PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Happy New Year to all of you.
This is my first newsletter as president. Marty is planning to be away for about 9 months of the year so decided to not stand again as it would have been unfair to her vice presidents. I wish a wonderful time on her travels especially the time she is spending with her family in Oregon. Your new council is listed in another part of this newsletter. If you have any questions or concerns or just want to say hello, please, contact them.
We had a wonderfully quiet Thanksgiving with good company and good food. The Feathers served an excellent meal and the table settings were lovely. We had less numbers as we were competing with ABBA, cricket and something else I can’t remember but the people who came really enjoyed themselves.
There is a party planned for Australia Day at Marty’s house with all the food provided. You just need to let us know and if you have a friend who wants to come, we will furnish directions to her house.
The Meet and Greets are continuing with really good success. We have new members who met us there and have continued to join us as well as participating in the other functions. We hope that some members who have taken a leave of absence will return like Ray Winterfield as done. We were very pleased and surprised when he came to the Meet and Greet. He can now be a part of the group again as his work has changed and he has the time. By the way, Ray is bringing his guitar to the Australia Day party and we will have a good sing along of folk songs.
We are planning other activities which are new to our group. One such trip is a visit to the clipper ship, The City of Adelaide, which sounds very interesting. Details will be circulated when all is planned.
Hope to see you all at Marty’s on Australia Day.
Cheers,
Dana (DeDe) Stoba,
President AAASA
